New Hyundai IONIQ 5 XRT

Electric car sales for the Hyundai and Kia Group worldwide, well, they didn’t do very well last year. Everybody was a bit shocked. However, you can’t blame them for lack of models.

They’ve certainly got that covered. We’ve now got the Kia EV9. We’ve got a big, proper seven-seat electric SUV.

Hyundai have just revealed the Ioniq 5N, so a proper performance electric hatch SUV crossover thing.

Either way, I love And now a vehicle that I think I like even more than the Hyundai IONIQ 5N, which is called the IONIQ 5XRT.

Design

It’s like an off-road version of the IONIQ 5. And yeah, it looks pretty damn cool. The IONIQ 5, most people really, really like the design.

I’m a big fan of the design. I just think it’s a practical shape. Very practical, very similar in a lot of ways to the Tesla Model Y.

But there isn’t really an off-road version of the Model Y. That’s something that Tesla could do. I think they should. So Hyundai have revealed the IONIQ 5 refresh recently. It includes several design upgrades.

Battery

It’s got a bigger battery, it’s got more range, it’s got a rear wiper. Actually, it’s got a heap of changes. I don’t know why the media haven’t really focused on this.

The IONIQ 5 The new version, the 2024 version, is just miles better than the previous version.

Very few people have even mentioned this to people because it’s important. Honestly, the new version is so much better though.

Personally, if it were me, if I was going to buy a car, and I would definitely consider this if I was, then I’d want to know those differences.

The 2024 model just blows away the 2023 version in a lot of different ways. Anyway, One day, they added seven kilowatt-hours of battery to the new IONIQ 5. So the total battery capacity now is 84 kilowatt-hours.

This means it has more range. On the EPA cycle, it’s 485 kilometers for the all-wheel drive version.

So for the dual motor version, that’s 301 miles, meaning the range increased from 458 kilometers, so from 285 miles to 301 miles, 16 miles more.

If you get the single motor version, it has quite a bit more range than that as well. It increases range by approximately 10%.

Outside View

However, aside for some cosmetic changes on the outside, some changes on the inside, like USB-C ports, different buttons, a better touch screen, better screens in general.

The interior looks much nicer. Hyundai have not actually launched the IONIQ 5 in the United States yet. Prices, though, are similar, around 39,400 US dollars.

Pricing

In Australia, prices are pretty much It’s the same. In Europe, prices are very similar as well.

The IONIQ 5 N, if you’re looking at one of those, they’re around 66,000, the most expensive Hyundai you can buy, 66,000 US dollars.

In Australia, they’re 111,000 Australian dollars, so the equivalent of about 73,000 US dollars.

It’s cheaper in the US to buy the IONIQ 5 N than it is in a lot of countries around the world. Anyway, getting back to this new version of Hyundai’s IONIQ 5 XRT.

Launching In Different Countries

Hyundai are going to launch a rugged version called the XRT. It’s coming to North America.

I don’t know if it’s coming to other countries. It could be, but the Korean car blog says that this prototype was spotted testing.

It’s got a different bumper. New parking sensors, and the front bumper is different than the current upgraded IONIQ 5 N.

I’m going to guess that the idea is to reduce departure angle, improve its off-roading ability. It doesn’t really have any It’s not really that car.

But a lot of people have stuff like they might have terrible driveways to get up, a driveway with ruts and things in it.

A lot of people have that thing in a lot of countries around the world. So this would be a nice upgrade, I think.

The prototype was spotted testing recently, and Hyundai have not confirmed the efficiency or range or the ride height of this vehicle, but we do know it’s coming, and it’s just an off-road version of the IONIQ 5, not any major changes.

I think it’s a little bit like the off-road version of the Mustang Mach E.

Now, these off-road, semi-off-road versions, they’re not real proper off-road cars, of course, but semi-off-road cars are becoming a bit more popular recently.

Rivian just revealed the new R3X. They’re not going to sell these for at least a couple of years, but they revealed the R3 and the R3X, and people are just absolutely loving it.

They love the design. They think it looks great. I think the same would go for an off-road version of the IONIQ 5.
