Kia EV Sales Record in America
Last month, KIA electric car sales grew a staggering 144%. I had to read that a few times.
I actually checked a few articles just to make sure I wasn’t getting this wrong. Kia, they have some very good electric cars.
Highlighting the Underrated EV9
You know what I reckon the EV9 is a really underrated car. But that said, I just have a look at what Zeekr is offering at a similar price.
If you’re in this segment, worth having a look at them.
Sales Performance in the US
Kia America has reported 65,754 sales in the US in April, which is actually down 3.6% year over year.
Their sales in America are down a total of about 3% so far for the first four months of the year.
Doubling Down on EV Sales
However, they have more than doubled their EV sales, reaching record volume and share.
What this means is that nearly 6% of all cars that Kia have sold were fully electric.
While that doesn’t sound like a lot, it’s a lot better than, say, General Motors and Ford, and a hell of a lot better than Toyota or Honda, or Nissan, or Mitsubishi, or any.
Popular Kia EV Models
For a legacy automaker, it’s pretty good. If you’re wondering which models were the most popular, the Kia EV6 was up 65% to 2,051 deliveries.
I think the EV6 is a really good car, strange-looking, but I really like it.
Kia EV9, 1,572 deliveries, and Kia Niro EV had over 1,400.
In total, they had around just over 5,000 deliveries.
Record-breaking Electric Sales in April
Now, apparently, I’m reading here on Inside EVs, apparently that means that actually in the month of April, 8% of all Kia is sold were electric, which is well and truly a new record by a mile.
The other thing kudos to Kia for the fact that Hyundai and Kia are going to make manufacturer electric cars in the US.
They’re saying they’re going to make really affordable cars in the US, EVs in the US.
Year-to-Date EV Sales Figures
Man, that’s just fantastic So far this year, there has been 6,110 EV6 deliveries and 5,600 EV9s.
Now, to give you guys an exact idea here on the actual increase, EV sales for Kia are up 144% in April versus April of last year.
Year-Over-Year Growth Analysis
You might be thinking, what about the whole year? Well, apparently, EV sales are up, EV6 EV9 sales are up 152%.
So EGMP, which is the new Kia platform, not the Niro.
Performance of EGMP Platform Vehicles
If you just look at the EGMP vehicles, which are obviously… They only have three EVs, EV6 and EV9, those are up 152% versus a year ago.
I think people are recognizing the fact the Kia EV6 and the EV9 are both very good cars.
They don’t qualify for EV incentive, so Kia have been offering some deals on them, basically discounting them by about that price They’re definitely worth considering.
350-kilowatt fast charging for both of those models. The Niro does not, but the EV6 and the EV9 both do.
Niro EV’s Value Proposition
The Niro, by the way, I think it could be the cheapest EV in America right now. it’s still a really good option at that price, very, very cheap.
