It’s Kia’s pioneering electric behemoth in the upper large SUV class, which is shaking up the way we think about family adventures and electric mobility.

The EV9 isn’t just another family hauler. It’s a bold statement on wheels.

Embodying Kia’s opposites united design philosophy.

The clean lines continue with a sharp tailgate flanked by stylish three-pronged, LED taillights that mirror the front design, reinforcing the EV nine’s confidence stance.

It’s all tied together with a keen attention to detail that shouts premium from every angle and it’s not just about looks.

The design is smart too. Every curve and contour works to cut through the air with ease boosting efficiency, a key for any electric vehicle wanting to go The distance.

Kia has really knocked it out of the park with this one making the EV9 as functional as it is eye catching, it’s simplicity done right with every element serving a purpose.

Kia EV9 Engine

Underneath its stylish exterior lies the heart of the EV9, so under the bonnet you can’t see motors and wiring.

Instead it’s all tucked away with some added bonus storage.

There’s actually 52 liters of cargo space and if you get the single motor EV9, then that grows to 90 liters.

There’s a choice between two batteries and drivetrain setups.

The dual motor all wheel drive system in our GT line trim pumps out a massive 283 kilowatts of power and 700 newton meters of torque.

We also have the larger battery on offer, which is huge at 99.8 kilowatt hours and depending on your trim, we’ll get you from 505 to 512 kilometers of WLTP range.

Charging Efficiency

On an 11 kilowatt AC home charger, it will take you about nine hours to get from 10 to a hundred percent charge on DC superchargers, it can offer 10 to 80% charge times in as little as 24 minutes, which is blisteringly fast for a battery.

This huge and is a testament to the advanced architecture that we see in many Kia and Hyundai EVs.

This is literally some of the best EV architecture available on the market. The EV9 is equipped with vehicle to load or V 12 capabilities.

That means this SUV can power your electronics and home appliances and it even supports vehicle to vehicle charging to help out other compatible EVs in need.

But you can also get the most out of this EV with a home system that will allow the EV nine to power your home directly from your vehicle.

It’s a quick and affordable solution developed right here in Australia and available to buy today. We put this to the test and it genuinely works.

Kia EV9 Driving Experience

The Kia EV9 is a testament to how well electric SUVs can perform, especially when they’re tuned for Aussie conditions.

This gentle giant handles so good whether you are cruising through city streets or tackling the wild rugged back roads.

It’s surprisingly agile for its size offering both comfort and a reassuring sense of control.

Yes, the EV nine is massive, which may seem a bit daunting at first if you’re used to smaller cars, but you get used to it quickly.

Kia EV9 Safety and Control

With its suite of advanced safety tech and cameras driving, the EV9 feels less like piloting a ship and more like handling a sporty cruiser.

It’s packed with features that boost your driving confidence, that low to the ground design I raved about earlier.

It’s not just for looks combined with the well distributed battery weight, it really gives the EV nine a stable planted feel on the road, smoothing out dips and bumps with ease.

And the paddle shifters for regenerative braking are a genius touch, easy to use and right at your fingertips so that you can adjust on the fly without having to dive into menus.

It also gives you a diverse spread of regenerative settings, which you don’t see on many EVs.

Lastly, I haven’t mentioned the fact that this is a big heavy SUV that jumps off the mark like a rocket.

Zero to a hundred is listed at 5.3 seconds. Hop into the EV9 and you are immediately hit by the vibe of a futuristic cabin.

There’s a lot to cover so let’s dive in.

Futuristic Cabin

Front and center are the dual 12.3 inch screens that stretch across the dashboard, serving up everything from navigation to entertainment on a sleek, easy to use interface.

Kia EV9 Infotainment System

Just a touch and you are ready to roll. The panoramic display ties it all together.

There are three screens including the 12.3 inch cluster, a five inch segment, and another 12.3 inch infotainment display like I’m in a high tech monitoring station.

Interior Space in Kia EV9

Space-wise, the interior is massive thanks to its dedicated EV platform.

It offers a flat floor and generous dimensions. Ensuring each seat from front to back is all about comfort and space.

It is super, super comfortable back Side. The seats just feel fantastic.

I’ve got great leg room, great head room, love the panoramic sunroof That extends to the second row. We’ve got map pockets in the back of the seats.

A really extensive storage bin under that goes right through to the front.

There is air vents at back and the ability to control air conditioning, which is super handy.

Second & Third Row

There is also heated and ventilated seats. In the second row, we have a couple of USBC ports.

Now in the third row, I’m really struck by how comfortable this is. Of course, it’s a bit of a tighter squeeze in the second row, but like for example, the seats, they’re not just benches.

They’ve actually got contours and grooves for your comfort, which I appreciate. There is little storage cup holder, USBC ports as well.

Kia EV9 Expansive Boot Space

when it comes to the boot With five seats up, you’ve got a whopping 828 liters of boot space.

Even with all seven seats up, you still have 333 liters, which is more than enough for those family road trip essentials.

Other cool things include the fact that it has over the air updates and in the trunk you’ll find a button to recline the second row seats and also a PowerPoint to plug in your appliances.

Safety Features In Kia EV9

but some really cool additions are highway driving assist to keeps you at a safe distance from cars ahead, even managing to keep you centered in your lane through curves.

It can even handle lane changes for you when you signal and meet the speed criteria.

Navigation based smart cruise control, adjust your speed based on road conditions and navigation data.

It slows you down before you hit curves or speed zones, and then picks back up to your set speed afterward.

Then there’s safe exit warning and assist.

It alerts you if a car is approaching from behind when you’re about to open the door, and if there’s a sudden increase in risk, the electronic child lock kicks in to keep the rear doors safely shut.

Drive away pricing for the Kia EV nine starts at $106,444 for the entry air trim.

Kia EV9 Pricing

Next, the earth trim is priced at $119,288 drive away, and GT line is available for $138,892.

Yes, I know overlooking the badge is going to be hard at that price point.

Given its extensive features and performance, the price tag makes perfect sense for those looking beyond brand prestige to pure value and capability.
