Hero Destini 125

In the recent past, Hero Motor Corp has been seen to up their ante as far as their motorcycles are concerned in terms of esthetics, fit and finish levels, and features as well.

And they seem to be doing the same with their scooters, at least taking the 125 cc scooter space a little more seriously, because this the new Destini 125.

Destini 125 Design

it’s an all-new-looking scooter, completely refreshed, and there are some changes under the skin as well.

The Hero Destini has been around since 2018, and it has been on the receiving end of some features and esthetic updates since that time, with the aim, of course, of improving its sales numbers.

But to be honest, it didn’t really appear to have worked wonder so far.

But this is the first time that the scooter is seeing such a substantial overhaul, and things could finally be looking up for the Hero in the 125 cc family scooter space.

The Destini gets an all-new face, which to me, looks a lot better than the old scooter.

And like most of the modern Hero two-wheelers currently out there, it’s got the H-themed lamps at both ends, which looks quite cool.

Features for Your Next Car

And there’s a projector headlamp in there as well.

Strangely, though, the projector functions when you flip the light to high beam.

And even on this top ZX Plus model, the turn indicators on there are halogen bulbs, which looks a bit out of place.

Destini 125 Features and Tech Upgrades

Yes, the top spec ZX Plus Destini gets some snazzy metallic accents all over its panels, and you also get a fully digital negative LCD display with Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation.

But when you’re out riding and it’s sunny, it can be a bit difficult to read what’s actually on there.

You also get features like auto-cancelling indicators which deactivate the turn blinkers after 80 meters, after activation, or 15 seconds, whichever you cross first.

Riding Comfort and Practicality

And in terms of rider safety, the hero gets a combined braking system and an auto engine kill function if it detects that the scooter has hit the floor while you’re out and about.

Space and Storage In Destini 125

Now, the Destini 125 is a family scooter, and having more space on a family-focused scooter is always a good thing.

So this scooter has increased in terms of wheelbase, and also, more importantly, the seat is a lot longer now as well.

So you have a decent amount of seating area for you and your pill-in a little more than before.

The foot space also very convenient, comfortable, and The riding position, nice and upright, should be good for riding in the city over fairly long stints as well.

Yes, the seat itself is long, almost the same length as that of the Jupiter 125, if not slightly longer Sure.

Destini 125 Engine Specification

TypeAir Cooled, 4-Stroke, SI Engine
Displacement124.6 cc
Fuel SystemFuel Injection (FI)
Max. Torque10.4 Nm @ 5500 rpm
Max. Power6.7 kW (9 BHP) @ 7000 rpm

Performance and Fuel Efficiency

But unlike with the TBS, you don’t have as much storage space under there, with the Hero having a conventionally located fuel tank.

It will accommodate a proper half-phase helmet, though.

Now, the Destini 125 still remains a family scooter, so it’s never really going to be outstanding in terms of performance.

So you still get the same like what you did before, 9 PS of max power, little over 10 Nm of max torque.

But they have altered the functioning of the CVT unit on this motor.

The outstanding bit now is that Hero is claiming this scooter will give you back 59 kilometers per liter, which is pretty outstanding.

The amount of power and torque feels just about right for you to carry out your business with two on board, and it will take two inclines with ease, too.

But there was something about this Destini that I found exceptional for a Hero scooter.

Smooth Suspension and Chassis Improvements

Now, something that I really like about the Destini 125 is the way the suspension is set up.

You have a telescopes fork up front and a mono-suspension unit at the rear.

The Destini 125 gets a slightly altered version of the chassis that the Zoom 110 is based on, and that, coupled with the suspension, it makes the scooter a lot more pliant of our regulations than it ever was before.

Yes, there’s a sweet spot at around 50 km/h, and the Destini feels fairly planted at speeds up to 60 and 70 as well.

But what’s also nice is the fact that this 115 kg scooter feels nice and light and not a real hassle, even if you have to backbiddle through some tight parking spaces.

Destini 125 Variants and Choices

Just like the older model before, there are three variants of the new Destini 125 to choose from.

The standard X-Tec, the ZX, and the ZX Plus.

The standard gets a drum break up front and misses out on the all digital display and the connected tech as well.

But, strangely, this is the only variant that gets a pure break lock.

By way of its overall functioning, over the course of this short stint with the scooter, well, the hero now feels a lot more competent in front of the competition to the likes of the Ax, the Actaverse, and all the Jupiters out there.

Awaiting Price Reveal: Value for Money?

Now, at this time, the pricing of the Destini 125 hasn’t been revealed to us, so I can’t really tell you if the hero is actually value for money.

But in terms of functionality, as far as 125cc family scooters go, thinking of the competition, the 125 Access or the Jupiter 125, for that matter.

Well, this scooter is a very nice alternative because the way it’s put together, the fit and finish, very classy, very nice, elegant-looking, and it is very comfortable and spacious as well. So a very nice alternative to the competition.
