Detective James Knight’s last-minute assignment to the Independence Day shift turns into a race against time to stop an unbalanced EMT worker who’s posing as a cop.
Clearly, ‘Detective Knight’ doesn’t make it to the top of the list of larger-than-life action adventure thrillers. Rather, Ed takes it slow and manages to give his veteran star Bruce Willis and his famed trilogy a befitting farewell.
As the final bow out for a veteran of the action, crime thriller genre this film doesn’t pack the punch you would expect…..it is commendable that the makers had to give it all that they could to make sure that it finished and released.
In spite of a third act that doesn’t feel as astounding as it should, Detective Knight: Independence provides equal parts of Action and character drama, bringing the Knight saga to a respectable close
The most straightforward of the trilogy, and also the best. Willis gets a little more to do here than in previous “Knight” thrillers.
In setting his film over a distinctly American holiday, Drake is openly interrogating the values upon which the nation has been founded, while also staging the contradictions and uneasy dissonances in that nation’s adopted heroes.
In the trilogy resolution, Detective Knight: Independence, the film lies on Willis’ shoulders as his storyline becomes crucial to the main story in this one. This is now his territory and he’s not afraid to show it.
